Lauren's getting more and more alert each day, and we've been able to capture some pictures of her while wide awake. Lauren's likes include the ocean wonders aquarium, her bunny rattle, and the swing. Dislikes: tummy time, sleeping through the night.

More Lauren...
Just a few more pics of our little girl...can't believe she's three weeks old today! She's changing so much every day, and is a true joy to us (even when she keeps us up all night). We're taking her out in the stroller as much as we can to enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having - she loves to be out in the fresh air! She's also lost the yellow jaundice complexion now, but is still going strong on the hair - no hair loss yet. People comment everywhere about how much she has - reminds me of her cousin Avery!
Happy First Easter!
We were thrilled our little bunny arrived before Easter! We had many lovely Easter celebrations - her grandparents on both sides brought Easter treats for the whole family, which were much appreciated. Robyn's parents were in town for Easter weekend, so Grandma made a yummy Easter dinner on Saturday night. On Easter Sunday, Andrew and Tamara came over and made us a delicious lunch (and brought more creme eggs - they are my suppliers!). Look how sweet Lauren looks in her Easter dress.

Spoiled baby!
Thanks to everyone for all the congratulations and well wishes. James was reading me our emails and the blog comments while in the hospital, and it was so great to hear from all of you (and funny to hear everyone's shock that she's a girl!). Here's a pic of Lauren with some of the gifts sent to us this past week. Between the cookie bouquet from honorary Grandma Lori, the monkey bread from Aunt Tamara and Uncle Andrew (and creme eggs!), and the cookie tin from Aunt Heather and Uncle Jay, we should be able to stay wired during those late night wake-ups! Thanks to her grandparents for the beautiful flowers, too!
One Week Old Already!
We can't believe Lauren is already one week old! It's crazy to think that tomorrow is her due date! She's doing great - we saw the pediatrician today and she's back up to 7 pounds, having gained 3 oz in 2 days (I keep telling her to eat like Popeye). Unfortunately for us, she has a little stretch each night where she just does not want to sleep, but otherwise she is an absolute joy. Here are some pics of her having fun. Isn't her "getting burped" face hilarious? It looks exactly like her 3D ultrasound pic.

Home!
Phew...it's been a tiring few days for the Madar family! We brought Lauren home on Saturday, which was stressful but a welcomed change from the hospital. We're starting to get into the swing of things now, with Robyn handling the feedings and most of the diapers and James handing the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Little Lauren seems to be quite happy; we took her to her first pediatrician appointment after leaving the hospital today, and her weight is going back up, which is great. The cats are still pretty wary of Lauren, and they are mad that they don't get to sleep in the bedroom anymore (at least for now), but they're hanging in there. James' parents came to visit this weekend for a really nice visit, and were thrilled to see their first grandchild...and who wouldn't be when she is this adorable! Robyn's post-op pain is much better (when she remembers her meds), and she's much more mobile. It's amazing to think Lauren is already almost a week old!

Last day in the hospital

Well, we're getting discharged from the hospital tomorrow, so we're trying to absorb as much information as we can from the doctors, nurses, and the lactation consultant before we leave and have to handle this on our own. Robyn gets her staples out tomorrow and is doing well, and Lauren is also doing well. Tonight we have a special "celebration dinner" that the hospital does for new parents so that should be nice.

Lauren's Second Day

Thought we'd post a few more pictures of Lauren and her mom/dad. Everything is going very well with everyone; Robyn is walking around, able to shower, and is wearing regular pajamas now instead of her hospital gown, Lauren is getting the hang of eating, and dad is a pro at getting her to go to sleep when she's cranky. Mom and dad got to change their first poopy diaper last night at 3am...it wasn't pretty, but we muddled through! The doctor said Robyn should be able to get her staples out tomorrow.
Now for the good stuff...pictures! We have the hospital photographer coming by to take pictures of her in a bit (to try and sell us an overpriced photo package, no doubt), so we'll see how those turn out.

Baby Lauren!

The day finally arrived; our new baby, Lauren India Madar, was born yesterday at 1:04pm. The scheduled c-section ran a little behind schedule; the labor and delivery ward was packed full of mothers and the doctors were quite busy, but we managed to get into the OR by about 12:30 and Robyn was given her epidural, and the procedure started at about 12:55 (you can see how quickly it went once they started!) Lauren weighed 7lbs 8 ounces, and had a nice head of brown hair. She's doing great so far (the pediatrician came by yesterday and checked her out), and Robyn is doing well after having her epidural removed today. She should be up walking today too. Here are some pics!
