Astronomical Autumn
Astronomical Autumn is upon us, and James thinks this is the best band name idea he's heard in a while (I still think Thundersnow is pretty super). We're back to summery weather here, but had a little spell where it was quite blustery...and we took advantage of all the wonderful things fall has to offer. Here are some pics of Lauren in her adorable Hallowe'en shirt (thanks, Grandma!), and of Lauren's newest Sunday ritual: cheering on the Redskins! (She wore the pjs this week and they won!)

Lauren & Daddy's day of football
And in other breaking Lauren news...
Lauren is continuing to suffer through teething. Lots and lots of drool is glistening on her chin and soaking though her bibs and shirts these days. The frozen teether is working wonders, as is sucking on Mommy or Daddy's hands. Once she's 6 months old, Lauren will be ready to start cereal, so Daddy decided to get a jump start by making some squash baby food in our fancy Beaba Babycook (thanks Meme!!). It's actually delicious! She is also enjoying tummy time quite a lot more, and has all kinds of cute new poses. Oh, and she learned to pet the kitty today...she liked it, though we're not sure Mr. Pibb felt the same way. Here are the latest!
Lauren can sit up!

Ted Kennedy memorial
This weekend, James, Tamara, Andrew, and James's friend Scott went to the Capitol to see the Ted Kennedy funeral procession (our first big DC memorial event). The motorcade was a few hours late arriving from Andrews Air Force Base (they had flown the whole group and the casket up from Boston where the funeral service was in the morning), so we had to stand in the hot sun for a while, but they eventually arrived. Just before the hearse pulled into the Capitol grounds another, smaller motorcade stopped in front of us and Arnold Schwartzenegger got out....pretty cool! He's shorter in person, though. Anyways, there were some speeches we couldn't hear (not enough speakers) and the crowd sang God Bless America, and then the whole convoy drove off to Arlington Cemetary for the burial. I couldn't identify most of the family and friends in the limos, but I did see John Kerry. Here are some pics....they were shot over people's heads, so they aren't great, but you get the idea....
