James's Birthday!

We celebrated James's birthday last weekend.  The plan was to go out for pizza at Matchbox, which is a really cool little pizza place in Chinatown, and then head back to our place for some drinks & cake.  After waiting for a table at Matchbox for close to 2 hours, we decided to get the pizza as take out and head home.  Back at the ranch, we pigged out on  pizza and then polished off some Texas Fudge birthday cake (check out the pirate candles!!).  It was a great time!

It's a Winter Wonderland!

It is snowing like crazy today! I know a lot of my friends back home aren't sure what to think about our wonderful weather here in the DC area, so here are some pics...

New Year's Eve

We had a very chill, low-key New Year's Eve with Andrew and Tamara. James made his famous pizzas, and we followed up with a chocolate fondue. It was very quiet, and just what we were looking for...our Zubrovska days are over, I'm afraid, though those furry pants will always remain a thing of beauty. Happy New Year to all!!

Going to the Zoo!

The National Zoo is just around the corner from Andrew's place, so we decided it was worth a look. It's a great zoo - our only negative experience (and this has nothing to do with the zoo itself) was at the Starbucks across the road, where the barista was incredibly rude! We had a great time wandering around - our particular favorite was the small mammal house, where we fell head over heels for the golden lion tamarin (they're endangered - check out this link to learn more about them). Here are a few pics - of the tamarin and of the pandas, who have gotten a lot of attention over the past few years.
