Meena, Matt, and I saw Salman Rushdie speak today about his new novel, The Enchantress of Florence. He was an engaging, funny, eloquent, and very interesting speaker. The idiot in front of Meena in the book signing line was trying to get him to sign a political cartoon depicting him as a target during his more controversial days, and Mr. Rushdie was a true gentleman in letting the loser know that he would not sign something like this.
